The Sims 4 Demo

Alright so I know it's been a long time since I posted anything but I am going to try and start blogging again on this since my twitter account is connected to this blog and my twitch account is now connected to my twitter. I am all connected now!

So on to the good stuff! Recently I got invited to try out The Sims 4 create a Sim demo.  In this demo you basically just get to try out creating Sims with all the new features that The Sims 4 has to offer.  I am sure all the features like clothing, accessories, hair, etc,.. was limited throughout the demo and they will be releasing more when the actual game is released on September 2nd.  So it wasn't the whole entire thing but you got to play with all the technical aspects of creating your Sim (bonus for not very many sliding bars to adjust their body).  So I am going to try and remember everything that I talked about in the demo and what I liked and disliked so here we go everyone THE SIMS 4 IS COMING!

Toddlers: Okay so first things first when I opened the create a Sim mode I noticed that there was no toddlers! There was child, teenager, young adult, adult, and elder.  I remember my sister talking about this a lot but I thought there was still a chance that it wouldn't be true.  I am sad to admit that now I am convinced it is true.  I don't know what to think because I haven't played the game mode so that could seriously be a make or break thing for the game.

Traits: Next thing I noticed was you choose your main personality type and then you are given a bonus little trait that comes along with each one (you can't choose this trait) and then you can choose 3 traits.  I was very disappointed in this! Once again I keep hearing that as you play the game there will be opportunities for you to receive more traits and if its true then Heck Yes if its not then game over.

The Walk and Talk:  So what I do love about this is you get to choose how your Sim walks around.  I feel like it gives them more personality and I love that.  You also get to choose their voice and its pretty awesome but this was also a thing in The Sims 3 so just glad they brought it back.

Shaping Mechanics: So this is a pretty big concept and I will try to keep it short.  So in the Sims you have been able to choose what your Sim looks like to some point.  As newer Sims games get released the more freedom to customize your Sims body type comes along with it.  The Sims 3 aloud you to do the most customization with the body but each thing had a sliding bar.  Ugh!!! Also you had to click on these tiny buttons that I didn't even discover until a year or so after owning the game to open those refining bars.  So it was just very tedious and I eventually stopped using them because it took soooo long.  In the new Sims they have made it so the scrolling bars are gone and when you want to adjust a part of a body you just simply click and hold on that body part and move your mouse either up, down, in, or out to adjust it according to your liking.  The only thing I was nervous about when hearing about this concept was if it would create a lag.  There was no lag though and it was a very smooth process to shape my Sim the way I wanted them.

Women's Hair: This was a scary thing diving into because in Sims past the girls hair is either a hit or miss.  There were styles that I would never ever think of using and styles that I used too much.  In the new Sims they really nailed it with the hair!  All the hair on the girls looked great and they had some great new modern styles.  I actually found myself having a difficult time deciding on my hairstyle when in the past it was a simple choice because nothing else looked good.  They also had a good selection of hair styles but they did take away the color wheel feature on all items so you are limited to the colors they provide you for your hair.

Women's Clothes:  Another very satisfying experience was dressing my girl.  All the way from the shirts to the shoes it was was very hip and stylish! I think we finally have a Sims game where the style has caught up with our fashion!  There was a particular accessory that I really noticed looked TEN TIMES better and that was the necklace.  In the Sims 3 the necklaces looked like they were painted on to the Sims body in the new game they actually hang on their bodies like they actually do in real life! So there was a huge plus for the accessories.

Men's Hair:  Another great advancement in the Sims create a Sim mode is the men's hair.  Once again I felt like it was way more modern and there were a lot more styles that I will actually use.  Same thing as the girls when it comes to the color.  We did make sure you could have a different eyebrow and facial hair color than the root color of your hair so that feature still exists also.  So the facial hair for men was awesome also! Remember how the beards in all the other Sims made your Sim look like a creep??? Well for the first time the full beard looked really good! I actually may go back and make a Sim that has a beard now.

Men's Clothes:  Okay So the clothes department for the men was where I had the most problem and it was actually in the shoes.  First lets chat about the actual clothes.  So the shirts looked great!  I was pleased that most of the men's shirts weren't just t-shirts with a print.  They actual had some style to them!  So on to the part I did not like about the clothes so far....the shoes!  I was so disappointed in the men's shoes at this point. They were absolutely ridiculous.  every type of pants I would try they just looked like they didn't flow with them and the shoes that were supposed to look black looked blue.  So I was actually very sad about the shoes for the guys but hopefully that is just a hiccup in the demo and will be find once the actual game comes out.

So I am not going to go over much more here since this blog post is already super long so if there are any questions that you may have then let me know in a comment below and I can try to answer or describe my experience of that for ya! Happy Simming Everyone!
